Dear employer, on 1 December was held on World AIDS Day and for some years now, on this day, often appear in the media two respected doctors : in Bonaventura Clotet, Head of Unit Director of HIV and Retrovirology Laboratory "irsiCaixa" University Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol, and Josep Maria Gatell, Team Leader of Infectious Diseases and AIDS of the Institute of Biomedical Research August Pi i Sunyer ( IDIBAPS-Hospital Clinic). You know what amazes me when I see and hear? His commitment to a common project: to find a vaccine and therapy of AIDS.
Catalans are working together and, certainly have disagreements, not all see it the same way, but some years ago are the visible face of the project. S'internacionalitzen and in contact with other researchers worldwide. Maybe you'll think that medicine is different from the business world, you're wrong. It is an extremely competitive field, where each of the first professional looking, full of egos. AIDS was the same source of conflict between Dr. Robert Gallo, the U.S., and Dr. Montagnie Luc, France, when were the first to independently isolate the virus that causes it.
I took the example of doctors Clotet and Gatell to tell you that when there is a will, when we want, collaboration, cooperation, sharing a project is possible. The Review of the Current Economic Circle titled Responsibility of Catalan business touches the bone marrow. Read it, do not just ponds in the headlines. No criticism, makes a diagnosis and presents proposals: a) take more risks, without losing his sanity but adapting it to modern requirements, b) when necessary to abandon individualism c) prioritize the immediate interests of the company ahead of shareholder, d) lead ambitious changes that the market requires; e) bet on innovation and internationalization, professionalization and permitted.
Maybe because from this tribune I've written often about the need to change the mental model of our business, I can only subscribe to what they said, and those who felt offended, such as Josep Maria Pujol Ficosa, and express my appreciation to him as an example of the way to go. Probably, for modesty and discretion that characterizes him and other employers cumbersome serve as an example, but the collective needs relating to convince themselves of what is possible - and necessary - to do business differently.
